As I was sitting in a coffee shop in Prague, I got an email that made me almost jump out of my seat! Lydia, a local resident of Iceland sent me an email asking if I could photograph her Hotel Budir Iceland wedding. She came across my Instagram and saw I was going to be in Iceland the same time as her wedding. It was so perfect and couldn’t have worked out any better. I was heading to Iceland to explore with my wife and attend a small workshop. I was arriving on the Friday and her wedding was on the Saturday, which was my only day with no plans… So amazing. I was stoked to have the opportunity to shoot a Hotel Budir Iceland wedding. I had seen picture of the little chapel there and I said to my wife that we had to go visit. It was the cherry on top to be able to actually photograph a little elopement as well.
She told me that they were having a very small intimate wedding with family at Hotel Budir. It was so amazing spending the day exploring with them. We didn’t really have a plan in place so we decided to just go for a drive and I said I would just keep my eyes open! I can’t explain how amazing it was to have that creative freedom. We just let the day take care of itself. If you have ever googled Iceland you have a good idea of the landscape. We passed by volcanoes, lava fields, water falls and ended the day at a ship wreck on the north western coast. We would jump out of the car, shoot for about 10 minutes and then have to get bacon the car and blast the heat! It’s not warm in may. Nonetheless is was an experience I’ll never forget and hope to do again some day. Thanks Lydia and Viaor!
