I met Duncan & Nicola at a local wedding I was photographing in Toronto. Nicola was a bridesmaid in the wedding and I had no idea of the plans she had for her wedding. We got along so well and when the day was wrapping up she said that I had to shoot her wedding! I of coursed agreed and then she continued to explain with her plans and my jaw dropped! She was planning a Bali Wedding in Ubud.
What an amazing journey it was! Traveling across the world to document their Bali wedding was so incredible. What really amazed me was that they had 80 people from over a dozen countries attend their wedding. They are such amazing people and that wedding was a testament of the friendships they have cultivated over the years. From the moment my wife and I touched down we felt at home. They treated us like old friends and included us in all the festivities. It started with a mix and mingle the first night where we got to know everyone and it was such a great way to set the tone for the week. The next day we jumped in a van and went exploring around Ubud, doing a little couple session. We photographed in rice fields, in front of waterfalls and finished in the Ubud Market (such an amazing place!). By the time the wedding arrived we were a part of the group and it is so freeing to photograph in that environment. We shared tons of laughs over the week and it awesome to know that we now have a ton of new friends to visit all around the world!
It was such a beautiful week of documenting and I will never forget those 10 days! Thanks Nicola & Duncan for inviting me to document your Bali wedding!
